Individual vs. Big Business Environmentalism
Making individual changes is only part of the solution.
While we do think it is important for individuals who are able to to use their power to reduce waste, vote with their money, and make other sustainable choices, we fully acknowledge that it is not the solution to climate change and pollution. Unfortunately, even if everyone in the world started living completely zero emission and zero waste, this would still not reduce emissions and pollution by nearly enough to solve the global problems. Capitalism and racism both play a role in fueling the unsustainable use of Earth's resources and promote the activities that emit the bulk of our greenhouse gases. Even knowing this, it is essential that individuals with the privilege to make sustainable choices understand their role in reducing waste, pollution, green house gases, and supporting ethical consumption. So, while individual action isn't everything, each little bit counts and using your wallet to vote for the livelihood of all of Earth's inhabitants forces big companies to reevaluate their policies.
